Very new to this endeavor, looks like I have found a great place to start. Very cool web site. Visited the Wild AM late last summer and fell in love with the place. Looking for a place in Massachusetts that will be a little more avaiable for me to get out there and get started. Thought about this for years and now I’m going to give it a try. Thanks for the inspiration.

I would be interested in doing some initial exploring at locations you have heard about in Massachusetts but have not yet checked out. Besides Couch Brook and the other East-flowing brooks in Bernardston, lwhat other possibilities are there?
Tom, you can sluice on the Wild AM as long as you have permission from the landowner. If you want to prospect on the land owned by Twin River Campground, you need to contact them and get a permit. You can prospect in the White Mt. National Forest without a permit, but there are strict regulations. Panning only I believe, or a small sluice. ive recently become aware of this opportunity to dredge/pan for gold in nh and looking for maybe tips suggestions hints. maybe a place to take the family and have fun plus get interested. I live on the seacoast near Portsmouth and want to make sure I don’t end up ding something illegal and get n trouble.
Derrick, the best place to get info from local prospectors is by joining the Facebook group called Northeastern Prospectors: https://www.facebook.com/groups/130568833726192/ It’s a great bunch of people (262 members and growing every day). Also, we have outings up in Bath NH in June and July (Little Dig and BIG DIG, see other posts on this site). You are welcome to attend since they are open events. You can also contact me if you want to arrange a prospecting class in Bath some weekend. I used to post my classes but only do them now upon request.
