I am so excited to be attending the Big Dig this weekend up at Twin Rivers Campground. My husband and I will be up there on Thursday and will leave on Sunday. I can’t wait to meet you. We will be on the river in #3. Stop by the campfire Thursday night, Jim, if you can. Otherwise, we’ll see you on the river.

I live in Washington stet and we will be moving to south west Vermont next year . Was hoping someone can give me advice on where to go panning and rock hounding. Also what rules and regulations are there for the New England states? I don’t own a dredge but will be getting a gold cube and metal detector for gold.

Mary, there are lots of locations in Vermont to pan for gold. But there are also a lot of regulations regarding prospecting. Here is some info: http://www.wheretofindgold.us/where-to-find-gold/vermont-gold-locations/

As for metal detecting for gold in New England, probably not worth the investment. The gold is fairly small, and the larger nuggets are usually in the rivers and streams and pretty far down for a detector to pick up. Metal detecting on old farms and on the beach can be very enjoyable though… good luck!
